RE at Stockton Heath Primary School

Karen Bhalla

Subject Leader: Mrs Bhalla

At Stockton Heath Primary School, RE has an important role and it is a subject that upholds our morals and values, fitting in with our school ethos. It helps support a multi-faith and multi-cultural society that our children are growing up in and it makes all pupils from our school feel respected and equal.

The main purpose of teaching and learning of RE is to study, discuss and ask questions about the beliefs of the six main religions: Christianity, Sikhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Hinduism; to learn and study stories from each of these six religions; and to build upon their prior knowledge of each religion throughout their time in school.

These areas have been chosen because they are the six main religions in the world and also due to the United Kingdom having such a diverse and multi-cultural society; this prepares and educates our pupils for working with adults of different cultures and religions later in life.

SUBJECT-SPECIFIC INFORMATION

Please see below for the Subject on a Page document and Intent, Implementation and Impact statement.

Progression in RE

Progression in knowledge of Religious Education is mapped out against each religion that the children study through school. These can be found below to show the progression from EYFS to Y6.

Knowledge Organisers

The subject leader has developed Knowledge Organisers for each of the Religious Education topics. These help us to address children's prior learning, vocabulary, core knowledge and key concepts for each of our RE topics throughout school. These are regularly being updated, added and revised to ensure the very best outcomes in our RE curriculum. Please check back for more soon.

We hope you find them useful to support any work, discussion or research outside of school!
